30 April 2018

The UK’s largest regional awards programme for the food and drink industry, the Taste of the West Awards, has just launched this year’s Best Newcomer Award. Generously sponsored by Tracklements, this title will be awarded to one Gold award-winning product that has been entered into this year’s Taste of the West Product Awards for the very first time.
The Taste of the West Awards celebrate the best food and drink from across the six counties of the South West: Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Dorset, Wiltshire and Gloucestershire, and are a benchmark for excellence across the region. Taste of the West Gold, Silver and Highly Commended award logos are already widely recognized on products as a sign of their quality and provenance. Applications to enter products into the awards remain open until 30th April 2018, and producers can now enter their products online: https://www.tasteofthewest.co.uk/awards-product-entry-form-2018
All producers entering this year’s Taste of the West Awards will receive an objective evaluation of their product from professional and experienced judges. If the product wins an award the producer will also receive a certificate, a digital logo and the opportunity to display the award on their packaging too.
This year producers will also benefit from a free analysis of their product’s label carried out by expert consultants at Food Labelling Services, who’ll be looking in particular at legal names, ingredients, false claims and allergens.
The winner of last year’s Best Newcomer Award was Happy Butter’s Organic Golden Turmeric Ghee. This product impressed the judges with its versatility, its natural goodness and its purity. As well as being environmentally and ethically conscious, it’s also utterly delicious. Kate Fry from Happy Butter in Totnes, Devon commented “Our first tentative steps into the world as a start-up food company last year were tricky as we had to do a lot of learning very quickly. We believe very much in our products and thoroughly enjoy all the challenges that come our way! Winning Taste of the West’s Best Newcomer Award felt like a tremendous achievement and gave our brand a greatly appreciated boost
