Walk on hot coals for local families needing care of hospice

Friday 1st November 2019

18.30 - 22.30 pm

Venue: Cheltenham Area Civil Service Club, Tewkesbury Road, Cheltenham GL51 9SL

Residents of Gloucestershire are being encouraged to step out of their comfort zone and take on a once in a lifetime experience – walking barefoot on embers burning at 1,236 degrees!

Paulette Vallois, a grandmother from Gloucester, has organised the event to raise funds for Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice. She said, “This is the first ever fire walk for Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice and it’s going to be a truly flaming fundraising experience! I am putting my best foot forward and stepping out on the coals myself at the age of 74 to help raise vital funds for families needing support from Sue Ryder.”

“Alongside many other hospice volunteers and supporters I am looking forward to what will be a truly exhilarating, unique and memorable experience. This is a big tick on my bucket list for sure and will certainly give me a story or two to share with my friends and family.”

“There will be a warm welcome for spectators on the night too, so even if you don’t want to walk over hot coals you can still come down for a real sizzling spectacle!”

With on the night live music performances from Samba band, Ola Samba, and delicious food from The Woozy Pig, there promises to be a real party atmosphere for fire walkers and their supporters.

Also stepping out onto the coals is first time fire walking fundraiser and Cheltenham 44 year old mum of two, Lisa Best. She said, “I love supporting Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice, but am more used to running on roads then walking on fire having run Cheltenham Half for the hospice two times.”

“I’m nervous and exhilarated at the thought of stepping out of my comfort zone to take on such an unusual challenge, and hope lots of my friends and family will come on down to support me and the hospice on the night.”

There are still spaces available for brave souls who want to take on the fire walk, managed by B.L.A.Z.E Firewalking and supported by Speedy Skips, and no training is needed. All fire walkers will receive a motivational training session on the night, sharing the techniques needed to help them walk across burning embers, unscathed and empowered!

Entry is £33. To sign up hot foot it to the link below.

Please note the minimum age for participation is 14 and places are limited. They will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
