Spectacle of Light
30th November - 30th December 2019
Explore the beautiful new illuminated trail around Sudeley Castle’s stunning grounds. Enjoy the wonderful music as you discover each new secret of this magical environment.
Now in its fourth year, the magical, illuminated trail is a must for families and groups of friends on the county’s festive calendar and runs from November 30th to December 30th. Visitors will marvel as the starlit castle, glorious gardens and romantic ruins are transformed like never before, in a dazzling display of light, colour and music, and can make a wish to support the brave children at Great Ormond
Street Hospital too.
This year’s theme, Peter Pan, promises to immerse all in a twinkling winter wonderland featuring favourite characters Tinker Bell, Wendy, Captain Hook and, of course, Peter himself. Plus, dramatic light installations inspired by J M Barrie’s timeless classic - the First Light, Garden of Blooms, Giant Flowers, Moroccan Lanterns and more - will provide plenty of photo opportunities too.
Tickets are by timed entry, ensuring the trail doesn’t get too crowded, and there will be ample opportunity to stop along the way to sip a cup of hot chocolate or mulled wine, as well as enjoy hot food and snacks under the cover of the castle terrace.
Don’t let the possibility of rain put a dampener on a visit - wrap up warm, dig out those waterproofs and wellies, and prepare for a truly memorable evening with loved ones.
Sudeley Castle’s Chief Executive, Wendy Walton, said:
“Sudeley’s Spectacle of Light is a wonderful alternative to the usual Santa’s grottos and leaves families with lifelong, magical memories.
“Seeing the awe upon children’s - and adults - faces as they soak up the stunning display of light and colour really is something, and we’ve worked hard to ensure that this year is a truly immersive experience with unique displays, music and some very special guests.
“Last year’s Spectacle of Light was virtually a sell-out success, so we urge visitors to take advantage of this offer to avoid disappointment - and look forward to welcoming you this winter!”
The illuminated walk takes approximately 60-75 minutes to complete, although visitors are welcome to stay longer if they wish. There are six entry times each day from 4.45pm onwards, to ensure that everyone is able to enjoy the Spectacle in its best light.
Advance ticket prices are £16.50 for an adult and £9.90 per child. Disability carers and children under three are free of charge. Family tickets (two adults and two children) cost £46.20 and visitors can choose a time slot upon booking. Sudeley Castle members save 30% on full price tickets, while on-the-day tickets can be purchased in person at Sudeley Castle Visitor Centre from 4pm.
