Preserving The Beauty Of Nature In Fine Silver – Beginners’ Workshop: Cotswolds
We are delighted to be holding a workshop to preserve and transform small, beautiful finds from nature into fine sterling silver fossils to create unique keepsakes and jewellery.
Hosted by illustrator and natural crafts expert EMMA MITCHELL, you will be shown how to cast flowers, leaves, seeds and other tiny, precious objects found in nature using silicon moulds and silver clay.
You will learn how to handle, add texture to and make silver clay into beautiful, wearable silver fossils and casts of tiny objects and nature finds.
You will go home with up to 3 silver pieces, packaged in a hand-decorated box for gifting or safekeeping.
If you come across any small items with interesting texture such as seedpods, leaves with prominent veins, shells, buttons, small found objects, textiles etc, do pop them aside and bring them along on the day; they can often be used to make beautiful silver pieces.
Emma Mitchell is a naturalist, GUARDIAN COUNTRY DIARIST, craft designer for BBC Countryfile magazine, and the author of MAKING WINTER, a creative survival guide to the colder months. She is also an illustrator and one of the UK’s most renowned silver clay tutors and uses the medium to create intricately detailed casts from nature. Find her on Instagram @SILVERPEBBLE2.
