Montpellier Gardens

Cheltenham

Montpellier Gardens lie at the heart of the town centre and are an important part of Cheltenham's regency landscape.

Many of the buildings surrounding the gardens are listed grade 1.

The site (3.5 Ha), owned by the Borough council since 1893, is part of the Cheltenham (Central) Conservation Area which at over 600 hectares is one of the largest in the country.

The gardens can be broadly split into two recreational zones - formal and informal.

The formal area currently consists of tennis courts and a toddler's play area, which the larger informal area is used extensively for promenading, sitting, and informal children's play area.

The bandstand that can be found on the broadwalk has regular concerts during the summer months.
