Wick Court Farm near Upper Framilode

Stroud Area

The pastures, hay meadows and orchards on this farm are being managed under the Countryside Stewardship scheme to maintain and enhance the strong local landscape character of the Severn Vale, to protect the archaeology, and to provide habitat for bats, birds and invertebrates.

In the corner of this field are the remains of part of the former settlement of "Benhall".
The first house was recorded here in 1269 and the last was demolished in mid 1840s.
The site was later used as a "rickyard".

The rest of the field contains ridge and furrow cultivation remains and associated land drainage ditches.

Nearby is Wick Court. This is late 16th century /early 17th century timber framed house standing on the moated site of a former medieval house dating back to the 13th century.
