£30k community pride funding up for grabs

A pot of funding worth £30,000 is up for grabs as Cheltenham Borough Council’s Community Pride Fund goes live for its twelfth year this week.

The funding is available to support projects that will build up community pride and enable local groups to be more influential in supporting their communities and improving their neighbourhoods.

There are two pots of funding:

Up to £30,000 will be made available via community pride grants to match-fund community-led projects, up to the value of £5,000 to fund:

Community-led projects that enable local businesses and their workforces to thrive
Community-led projects that enable people and communities to thrive and that support physical and mental wellbeing
Community-led projects that enable culture and creativity to thrive in Cheltenham
Community-led projects which target inequality and help to reduce the impact of children growing up in poverty.
Up to £4,000 will also be made available via community-building grants of up to £300 each to community and voluntary sector groups to run small-scale projects, events and activities to help them support the well-being of their neighbourhood.

Helen Down, team Leader for participation and engagement, says: “We would like to encourage organisations across Cheltenham to apply for grants to support their local community pride projects.

“We’re pleased to have been able to support hundreds of community based projects since the scheme started in 2007 and we look forward to hearing about the exciting project ideas put forward for 2019.”

The closing date for applications to the community pride grant fund is Friday 7 June 2019 and the application guidelines and application form can be found online at www.cheltenham.gov.uk/communitypride.
