Cheltenham’s top retailers hailed the success of a sale organised by Cheltenham Business Improvement District (BID).
Around 500 shoppers snapped up bargains at Cheltenham’s Boutique Sale at Princess Hall in Cheltenham Ladies College on Sunday (January 27).
Women’s and men’s clothing, shoes, jewellery and beauty products were all on offer.
One of the business owners, Sophie Scarrott, of Keith Scarrott Shoes, said the event had been a great success for both the retailers and shoppers.
“The event has become a part of the Cheltenham calendar,” she said. “We love coming here and had a fantastic response from both regular and new customers.
“I really welcome the opportunity to work closely with other Cheltenham businesses. It helps us for the Boutique Sale but it will help us all in the long-term because of the relationships we are building.”
Molton Brown, who took part in the sale for the first time, said it had been a great success and that they wanted to be involved in similar events in the future.
Richard Dare, who runs men’s outfitters James of Montpellier, said: “We did well last year, but this year was even better. It’s a great event.”
The businesses who took part were: Beards, Bodega, Frank & Doll, Harris Rae, Horace Barton, James of Montpellier, Keith Scarrott Shoes, Molton Brown, Roxtons and Tia-Tia.
BID Director Kevan Blackadder said: “Many of the items on sale were 75% off. The businesses can’t afford to put on a clearance sale of this kind on their own but when the BID brings them together, it works brilliantly.”
The BID is now turning its focus to its next big event, Light Up Cheltenham, which will see more than 40 buildings lit up across the town from February 2nd to 24th and a Giant Observation Wheel in Imperial Gardens.
