Considering the care of your loved one? Cheltenham care home offers free advice

A care home in Cheltenham is inviting the local community to join them for a free online event offering support for people considering care for their loved one.

On Wednesday 9th June, from 2pm-3.30pm, the Care UK team at Sandfields, on St George’s Road, will host a free ‘How We Care’ online event.

The experienced Care UK team, including Customer Relations Manager Laura Sayburn, will be on hand to deliver an informative session to help those considering care. They’ll provide advice on identifying what to look for when choosing a home, the next steps to take and what day-to-day life is really like in a modern care home, including the care types and activities on offer, as well as the home’s facilities.

In addition, on Wednesday 30th June, the Sandfields team will also host its monthly free online event on ‘Falls Prevention.’ Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist Kerrie Hodges will provide expert guidance on preventing falls, reducing balance problems and maintaining independence. During the event there will also be a chance to learn the common causes of slips and falls and discover ways of preventing them at home or in care, as well as advice and tips on activities and exercises that improve balance and reduce the risk of falls.

Malaika Charles, Home Manager at Sandfields said: “We’re excited to host these two virtual events and meet members of the local community. We understand that finding the right care home is a hugely significant as we get older, as is maintaining independence so we’re offering a helping hand to those who need guidance.

“There are many common myths and misconceptions about care home life, and we think our virtual event will help to dispel them. We hope local people will take this opportunity to join us for an afternoon full of advice and tips.”

For anyone unsure about how to take part in the virtual event, help is at hand. The team at Sandfields will host the event using Zoom, an online meeting space. Simply call or email Customer Relations Manager, Laura Sayburn, and she will send a link to join the event and share her tips to make the most out of the session.
