Tuesday 28 Feb 2023 - Today Wychwood Festival reveal Sam Ryder as their final headliner for 2023, performing on Sunday 4th June. He joins previously announced headliners Happy Mondays and Travis, who will perform at Wychwood for their only festival appearance in the South of England in 2023.
Also announced today are rock band Sleeper and Mark Watson, who will headline the comedy tent on Saturday 3rd June. Across the weekend they will be joined by a huge line-up, including Ash, Melanie C, Soul II Soul, Heather Small, The Proclaimers, Scouting For Girls, The Beat, Toploader, The Dualers, Republica, Thrill Collins, The Electric Swing Circus and Mr Motivator.
Nominated ‘Best Family Festival’ every single year in the UK Festival Awards, Cheltenham’s most loved family festival Wychwood Festival will return 2nd - 4th June 2023, now on a brand new site at Cheltenham Racecourse. Tickets for all days are on sale now HERE.
For his first ever headline festival show, the electric Sam Ryder will close out the party on Sunday 4th June. The BRIT Award-nominee made headlines last year after an amazing Eurovision journey, representing the UK and finishing second, bringing the Eurovision spirit back home. His debut album There’s Nothing But Space, Man! hit Number 1 in the UK Official Charts, including smash single ‘Space Man’, ‘Living Without You’ with Sigala and David Guetta, plus latest track ‘All The Way Over’.
Performing alongside Sam on Sunday is chart-topping singer Melanie C, GRAMMY award winning Soul II Soul, indie-rock band Toploader, skiffle-pop trio Thrill Collins, and electro-swing group from Birmingham, The Electric Swing Circus.
Kicking things off on Friday 2nd June is Salford rockers, Happy Mondays. Northern Ireland’s three-piece rock band Ash, Jamaican Rhythm & Blues band The Dualers, technopop punk rock trio Republica, and ska group The Beat feat Ranking Jnr are also on the bill.
Headlining on Saturday 3rd June is multi-BRIT award winning band Travis, with a great supporting line-up including the newly announced Sleeper, plus The Proclaimers, Heather Small and Scouting For Girls. Plus, fan favourite Mr Motivator will be back to get everyone pumped up!
Wychwood have got a fantastic comedy line-up for 2023 including Angela Barnes, Mike Cox, Tony Cowards, Catherine Flanigan, Jon Wagstaffe on Friday 2 June, Mark Watson, Dianne Spencer, Steve Day, Sarah Johnson, Adam Beardsmore on Saturday 3 June and Jack Gleadow, Faye Treacy, Andrew Bird, Chris Brooker on Sunday 4 June.
Iain Game, Festival Director of Wychwood Festival, said: “We’re so excited to welcome Sam Ryder this summer, closing out Wychwood Festival with his first ever headline festival set. It’s going to be a really special weekend - less than 100 days to go!”
Wychwood are thrilled to share their new venue Howlin’ Pete’s, which will house some not-to-be-missed unique activities over the weekend. Such as: Barrioke, Hip Hop Karaoke, Junior Jungle, and Elvis Lesley.
Wychwood will present over 100 workshops and activities for families across the weekend. First details have been released today, with more announcements to come: magician El Baldiniho, circus performer Loz Because with Crabracadabra!, Marky Jay’s The Monkey Magic Show, music workshop Happy Sloth Tape Club, comic theatre and circus show FailFailFailFailWin, Professor Strange’s magic experience, junk drumming workshop Glamba, a Balloon Dragon Parade, Bhangra/Bollywood sessions with Sohan Kailey, Circus Workshops, Sambistas, Yoga, Open Mic Sessions, Harp Playing Workshops, Arts and Crafts, Dance, Storytelling, Puppet Shows, Street Theatre and Buskers.
Last year, Wychwood Festival saw headline performances from Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Levellers, and Deacon Blue, with hundreds of activities and workshops also taking place over the weekend.
Now on a bigger site within Cheltenham’s Racecourse, Wychwood is continuing its year on year growth by preparing for its biggest festival yet.
Early Bird tickets are already sold out. Tier 1 tickets start from just £129.50 for adults and £64.50 for children aged 10 - 15. Children under 10 go free.
