What has brought you to a role at Gloucestershire Young Carers?

I saw the role as an opportunity to learn and develop my existing experience within the sector. I am passionate about supporting local families and young people and admire the work the charity does in this area.

Can you tell us a bit about the experience that you are bringing to the role?

I have worked in the charity sector with families and young people for over 10 years in a variety of roles so have a huge amount of passion, particularly around wellbeing and mental health. In my most recent role, I was managing a variety of services that supported families to thrive, including those affected by mental illness, and families where a child within the family was exploring their gender identity. I enjoy developing new work, and ensuring services are streamlined and effective.

What are you most looking forward to?

I am looking forward to learning about the charity and getting stuck in to developing the amazing work we already do.

What do you think the challenges are going to be?

Within the charitable sector funding is always a challenge, ensuring continuity and the best possible service for those we support.

And lastly tell us a bit about yourself?  What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

I am currently renovating a cottage, so that takes up a fair amount of time. I love to paint and spend time with my little boy. This year I have also been regularly wild swimming which is fun…. And cold!
