Mother and baby Post-natal Pilates class Tuesdays  10:15-11:30 

The initiation of pelvic floor exercises or ‘Kegel Exercises’ in the immediate postpartum period is encouraged by midwives. Post-natal Pilates builds on these initial exercises and also incorporates deep abdominal training which not only aids in the recovery of the pelvic floor and deep core muscles, but reduces the risk of future urinary incontinence which can be a common problem following childbirth.

Abdominal separation (diastasis recti), muscular imbalances and joint instability caused by pregnancy hormones can pose problems for those wanting to get back into exercise. A specialized post-natal Pilates class where you can bring your baby is an excellent way to get back to full fitness safely by improving posture, re-educating movement and co-ordination patterns and improving core strength and spinal mobility. It is also a great opportunity to meet other new Mums in a relaxed baby friendly environment.

Please bring something to lay your baby on and any soft toys/baby essentials

I trained with Michael King at the prestigious Pilates Institute London in 2004 and am a fully insured  Pilates and Ante & Post Natal Instructor with a level 3 Diploma in Pilates Mat work and level 3 Pre and Post-Natal Exercise Programming. I teach locally and aim to bring affordable, experienced and quality teaching to a variety of venues and people of all ages and abilities.

I have 17 years experience in the sports/fitness industry and hold a Sports Studies & Leisure Management degree. On graduating, I joined Champneys and became the Fitness Manager at the UK's largest Spa, Champneys Springs. It was there that I started teaching studio classes.

I trained with the Pilates Institute in Fundamental Matwork, Pilates on the Ball and Back Care, but have also trained with STOTT Pilates to include Flexibands which add variety and support to some of my classes.

After having my 2 children I decided to continue teaching as a freelance instructor and have been specialising in Pilates for 12 years now. My classes are kept small and run in 4-7 week blocks to allow for individual attention and progression, which I believe is  fundamental to the Pilates method.

I am a keen endurance runner and triathlete and believe wholeheartedly in the benefits of Pilates to support many forms of physical activity, redress postural imbalances caused by today's lifestyle and to help avoid injury. The relaxing atmosphere and flow which I like to create in my classes, make the sessions stress releasing as well as functional.
