'Sisterhood' - a virtual exhibition at The Wilson

We’ve moved our exhibitions online so you can still enjoy them.

Our first is Sisterhood which was open to the public for just one week at The Wilson Art Gallery and Museum before we had to close on 17 March in response to government guidance. From Monday 4 May you can take a tour of this inspirational photography exhibition by local artist Danielle Salloum from your own home. Through audio clips and videos you can explore the 40 portraits of women and the stories of Sisterhood.

In 2020, the year of the woman, Sisterhood highlights women from two communities, Cheltenham and Gloucestershire and Trinidad and Tobago, both places Salloum has strong links to. Each portrait illustrates how these women are making a difference, both big and small. Through her portraits she brings to life the achievements of the women who have very different stories to tell and who come from a variety of fields, from human rights and environmentalism activists to women in sport, business, the arts and education, to mothers and political leaders.
