Quilting and Patchworking techniques at The Wilson Art Gallery and Museum

Cheltenham

Dates: Wednesday March 8, 15, 22 and 29 2023

The Wilson owns a fantastic collection of historical quilts, a selection of which participants will have a chance to view behind the scenes as inspiration, before experimenting with different types of patchwork styles and designs over this four week course.

Join experienced artist Sarah Davies as she introduces you to several classic patchwork styles. Make a new sampler each week using a new technique, and experiment with different textiles, materials and finishes.

The course covers using appropriate tools to measure and cut accurately, and a range of patchwork basics such as how to join blocks together, adding borders and binding and staple quilting skills.

The course dates are March 8, 15, 22 and 29 2023, 10am to 1pm in The Foyle Learning Centre. All ages and abilities are welcome, however a basic knowledge of sewing and how to use a sewing machine is helpful, under 16s must be accompanied by an adult. The cost of the entire course is £120.
