Due to the Coronavirus Pandemic and like many other events, the Miss England contest was forced to cancel a series of events scheduled to be held between March – June 2020. The semi-final will now be held as a virtual event, with the judges meeting at a central location and observing socially distancing requirements on 31st July and all contestants will connect via Zoom on the day of the event.

Taking part in the contest is 25 year old Cherrelle Ford who is from Brockworth, Gloucestershire.

Cherrelle said;

“I am a Chartered Accountant at Hazlewoods LLP based in Staverton, Cheltenham and I have been specialising in farms and estates for almost 7 years. Recently my time has been spent supporting businesses through this pandemic both in financial and emotional terms in order to ensure that businesses survive and jobs are retained.”

“It is easy for the younger generation to have a misconception of Accounting as a career and it is my aim to change this perception. I regularly take time out to attend career fayres at local schools, using the time to educate students about the profession itself and the importance of the finance industry, especially at times like these.”

“As a young female professional in a male dominated industry, I have learnt the importance of confidence, networking and social skills. It is my goal to be a role model and empower young female professionals whilst increasing their knowledge of the industry.”

Cherrelle is being sponsored by The Linda Mary Clarke Fund which has been established in memory of Linda Clarke. Linda was passionate in her support and encouragement to young women to achieve their potential in pursuing careers within Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM).

Approximately 40 Contestants from across England have been invited to submit 3 videos to enter this year’s semi-final, which consists of an introduction, a catwalk and talent video. The current Miss England NHS Doctor Bhasha Mukherjee will be making a special appearance on the livestream with former Mr. England Jordan Williams hosting the event alongside other former Miss & Mr. England and Miss UK winners.

Ongoing plans to hold the 2020 Final are dependent on circumstances but organizers hope this will now be held late October.

The semi final will be available to watch on a live stream which can be booked on the Miss England website. The semi final livestream will include exclusive interviews with the judges, entertainment and the selection of the national finalists.
