WHAT ARE WE RACING FOR?

Good question! We hope you have a great day taking part in this very unusual event, and from feedback over the years this certainly has been the case. Teams love taking part, and have a great time! The winner on the day will become the proud owner, for 1 year, of the “Rotary Club of Gloucester Severn Dragon Boat Shield”, accompanied, no doubt, by copious amounts of liquor…and the various charities supported by our Rotary Club will, we trust, benefit from lots and lots of money raised! The “Headline Charity” chosen this year is the well known local charity, Young Gloucestershire. There are also prizes, morning and afternoon, for the “Best Turned Out” teams (can be “fancy dress” or “matching t-shirts” or whatever bright “theme” idea you come up with!) and the “Best Mixed” teams (i.e. male and female, normally minimum of 4 ladies in your race team).
