There is so much going on to entertain children at The Cheltenham Trust’s venues over the February half-term – some of it free – providing fun for youngsters and a helping hand for working parents.
Leisure at Cheltenham
Active Adventures, Monday 20 to Friday 24 February, 8.30am to 5.30pm, £35 per day (or £30 per day for two or more days). Add £5 for lunch.
Our popular school holiday programme of sports and games is back this February half-term for a week of fun activities. Football, basketball, scuba and pool parties are just some of the things on offer during this multisport activity week for children aged eight to 12. Active Adventures are ideal for active children and for working parents too.
Be sure to book early on our website for as many days as your family would like.
Swimming activities, multiple sessions throughout the week
For all the water lovers we offer multiple sessions throughout the week including, inflatable swim, splash and swim and fun floats.
Soft play
Our dedicated soft play area is open throughout the week, offering 45 minute sessions. We also offer inflatable soft play sessions, which include use of our bouncy castles, soft play and more.
Pittville Pump Room
There will be three FREE mornings of activities for children of all ages with Pittville Kids sessions led by experts in circus skills and dance. Just turn up for a 10am start and adults can make the most of the Parent Zone in the main hall to enjoy coffee and a cake while the kids have fun. The sessions run through until 1pm.
Monday 20 February, Clown and Mime Workshop, 10am to 1pm, free entry
Richard Jones has been a mime artist and silent clown for over two decades. He has toured internationally, been on TV and also worked with YouTube legends the Sidemen. His workshops will be fun while exploring playing with non-verbal skills.
Wednesday 22 February, Circus Skills, 10am to 1pm, free entry
A fun-filled free activity morning of circus skills with Tristan Glover. Learn plate spinning, diablos, juggling balls and clubs and hoops. No booking is required.
Friday 24 February, Street Dance with Tom Lowe, 10am to 1pm, free entry
Discover street dance with professional dancer, Tom Lowe. Tom runs his own dance school, Apex Academy and is a member of CompanyJinks with choreographer Ricky Jinks. Tom was a dancer on the live semi-finals of X-Factor and most recently played Bert Barry in 42nd Street at the Gatehouse Theatre, London.
The Wilson Art Gallery and Museum
Throughout half-term in The Wilson Kitchen café families will be welcome to use the free art caddies. Help yourselves to colouring materials and feel free to join in with our spring projects, creating colourful spring flowers and butterfly wings. The café has a Young Artists menu especially for younger customers.
Made in a Day: Embroidery and Embellishment Workshop, Saturday 18 February, 10am to 3pm, The Foyle Learning Centre
Designer Milligan Beaumont, who has her own label, Milbo, introduces you to her unique style of building-up stitches and 3D embellishments Design and make your own hand sewn and embellished pieces. Booking essential, tickets £50, to include all materials. Suitable for all ages, but under 18s need to be accompanied by an adult.
Creative Explorers Craft Club, Wednesday 22 February, 10am to 3pm
An artist-led holiday club for five to ten year olds who love to make, share and play. Join us for an informal, fun and inspirational workshop, providing your child with the chance to express themselves artistically while making new friends and learning new skills. Bring a packed lunch or book a Wilson Kitchen café lunchbox. If the weather is fine we may include a nature walk outside, so please make sure your child brings a warm coat. Please note this is a drop-off session. The £20 booking price includes all materials, add £5 for lunch.
Bang the Drum, Wednesday 22 February, 10am to 11am, in the WoW gallery, for under fives and their parents/carers
Explore instruments and learn some simple beats and percussion patterns while making loads of noise and having lots of fun. We’ll sing songs, play games and enjoy hands-on learning and creativity through music and sound. Tea or coffee, squash and biscuits included in the ticket price. Tickets for children under 5, £2 and adults £3.
The Art of Horror Movie Posters workshop, Thursday 23 February, 2pm to 4pm, the Foyle Learning Centre, mainly for those aged 12 to 16
Design and create your very own horror movie teaser poster, led by artist in residence Zack Thorne, one of our We Are Creators artists. Create five monochromatic posters to take home. Horror inspired imagery will be available for inspiration. Enter at your own risk! Tickets: £5 to include materials.
Din’s Digital Craft Club: the Claymation of Mind free workshop for teenagers and adults, Saturday 25 February, 2pm to 4pm in the Foyle Learning Centre
This is a creative session led by Dinesh Patel, one of our We Are Creators artists, who will be inspiring an exploration of mood, emotion and thought through suspended time in a stop frame clay animation workshop. There will be five rounds of clay head bashing, moulding, smoothing and scraping in a collective exploration of the silence of thoughts in the mind. Places are on a first-come, first-served basis.
Bee’s Puppet Club, Saturday 25 February, 11am to 12pm, in the Wow gallery, family workshop suitable for ages five to 12
Led by experienced puppeteer and puppet maker Bee Daws, this fun workshop will focus on storytelling, craft, puppetry and performance. Perform with your puppet alongside Bee, as she creates new exciting worlds. Tickets: £5 per child.
