The Story of Pittville Pump Room

A free immersive heritage trail bringing the history of the iconic Grade I listed Regency building to life.

pump room
The trail, created and provided by The Cheltenham Trust, showcases our heritage with a modern twist. It offers a visual tour, vignettes of artefacts from a specific era, a beautiful hand-made replica model of the pump room, replica Regency costumes that can be tried on to capture memorable photographs.
A self-guided audio tour is accessed by QR code and can be listened to by phone or tablet enabling visitors to access when and how they wish. Listen to characters from the eras tell their stories and experiences of the pump room and its history.
The trail launches on Thursday 16 September with a four-day programme that includes activities for children, strolling characters, re-enactments, live music and dance.
Visitors pre-booking lunches and afternoon teas on the weekend of Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 September can enjoy the music of the period being played on the pump room’s beautiful Steinway. Bookings close on Wednesday 15 September.
An art deco café in the apse replicates dining from the 1930s by recreating the look and feel of the era when the pump room last hosted a café. On Thursday 16 and Friday 17 visitors will be able to dine inside between 11am and 2pm or outside in the popular Heritage Café while experiencing the wonderful views of Pittville Park.

Exclusive two-course lunches, now booking for dining in 1930s art deco style
Located in the apse, the art deco café pays homage to the glamour and style of the 1920s and 1930s.
Your lunch will be accompanied by a pianist playing music from the period on the pump room’s beautiful Steinway and you’ll be served by staff dressed in the style of the era.
Places are limited for this exclusive dining experience on Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 September, 1pm to 3pm, £25 per head. Booking closes on Wednesday 15 September.
