We are delighted to welcome JONATHAN EDWARDS to Cheltenham for a Masterclass for all who wish to develop their poetic art and craft through quality, inspiring workshops led by acclaimed, successful poets.
The workshop will begin with a close reading of Simon Armitage’s brilliant poem ‘Not the Furniture Game', to explore the use of metaphor in character sketches. Through writing exercises and strategies, we will start work on a poem about someone we love – parents, children, uncles, spouses.

Following the workshop at 6 pm is a public reading, when Jonathan will read from his work described below. Then each person at the workshop will have the opportunity of a two-minute slot to share the poem(s) they developed earlier and/or another of their poems.  Entrance to the evening event is optional, and is included in the ticket for the class to members of the class.

Much-acclaimed poet Jonathan Edwards is author of the best-selling, Costa-Prize-winning 'My Family and Other Superheroes'. His collection was described as 'Joyful and dynamic – a collection that’ll make you laugh and make you think' by Costa Poetry Book Award judges. His book 'Gen', which covers lions and rock stars, street parties and servants, postmen and voices, was called 'bold and sweeping’ by Ben Ray and 'a triumph' by The Yorkshire Times.
