Learn to Lindy Hop with Just Jive Lindy Hop at Pittville Pump Room

Cheltenham

The new term starts on 25 April every Monday through to Monday 4 July 2022

Beginners 7pm Intermediates 8pm. £6 per Class, pay each week. Cash or Card.

Lindy Hop is a partner dance that is said to have been invented in The Savoy Ballroom, Harlem, New York, in the 1920’s and 1930’s, and was danced to swing music. It was the American GI soldiers who bought Lindy Hop to Britain in the early 1940’s. Lindy is traditionally danced to swing music. We teach the ‘Savoy’ style of Lindy made famous by the King of Lindy Hop, Frankie Manning. This is the authentic original and best style.

Jim Hannaway is the founder member of Just Jive Lindy Hop and with over 25 years of teaching experience you are in safe hands and will be Swing Dancing with smoothness and style by the end of the term. Jim has taught and performed at many UK Swing Dance events working alongside some of the biggest names on the scene including Ryan Francois, Sylvia Sykes and Mr Frankie Manning.

Beginners Level – This is for complete novices, we will teach the basics step by step building on the fundamentals each week.

Intermediate Level – This class is for dancers who already have some experience in dancing Lindy Hop. An understanding of 6 and 8 count rhythms, triple steps and Lindy Hop fundamentals such as Lindy Turns, Lindy Circles and Swing Outs are essential for participation in this class.

Wear smooth soled flat shoes and comfy clothes. No partner required as we will rotate the class, you can stay with your partner if you prefer.
