Scent in the Garden: An illustrated talk & practical advice with Stephen Lacey: Cotswolds

Join us in the Market Garden on our Cotswolds farm for an illustrated talk and practical discussion that focuses on a powerful, but often overlooked, part of gardening: scent.

Hosted in our Market Garden Tipi by garden expert and writer Stephen Lacey, the Scent in the Garden talk will explore the role of scent in plants, how and when it is released, and the diversity of fragrances in flowers and leaves – both pleasant and unpleasant. The talk will invite you to consider the use and placing of scented plants, the making of scented features, and a season-by-season calendar of plants.

Stephen will showcase living plant material harvested from his own garden to let you smell, savour and explore a range of unusual scents.

Guests will be able to seek advice or discuss ideas for their own gardens.

The talk will end with a tour of the organic Cutting Garden at Daylesford will highlight some of the best ways to bring scent indoors.

Stephen Lacey has a jam-packed, 1 acre garden on the Welsh border. He is a long-standing gardening columnist and feature writer for The Daily Telegraph. The author of a number of books, he is currently visiting gardens around the UK for a new edition of Gardens of the National Trust.
