Friends of the Samaritans Musical Theatre Night

Online

28th November 2020

musical-theatre-night-1

A night in with excellent musical theatre singers giving us a fabulous night of entertainment, with songs from the world of musical theatre and a handful of festive songs to start the countdown to Christmas. Also food and drink delivered to your house!

Due to the fantastic success of the Friends of the Samaritans online Beer festival, we have been asked for another spectacular night of entertainment, this time we will be joined by mostly Cheltenham based performers who have performed in theatres all over the world, the West End, and Film. There is also the opportunity to add an order of food to your cozy night in. We have a choice of food and drink from local suppliers, hand delivered refridgerated by our team the evening before the festival. Check out all our available food on our ticket page, prices are per person.

Our stars will be performing songs from classic musicals, such as Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, Jesus Christ Superstar, as well as some lesser known pieces including composers such as Stephen Sondheim, Jason Robert Brown, Kander and Ebb, Andrew Lloyd Webber, and more.

Not only will we get solos from performers all of whom have graced the West End boards, but also each performer has a link to Cheltenham, with all of them having performed at local theatres such as the Playhouse theatre, the Everyman Theatre, The Bacon, even back to the days of The Axiom Arts Centre. We will have some rare songs from composers with Cheltenham links, such as Richard O’Brien, and Gustav Holst, as well as some musicals that have connections with Cheltenham, such as Stephen Sondheim’s “Anyone Can Whistle”, which had its longest run ever at the Everyman Theatre.

As it will be less than a month until Christmas we shall of course kick off the Yuletide season with a few festive favourites, and it will all be in the name of charity, raising money for the Samaritans, a charity that is finding itself more and more in need as this global situation carries on.

So join us for a theatre night in, with an excellent meal, and drinks delivered to your door, and we promise a night of musical theatre, fun, frivolity, and festivities. There are many songs being recorded for the show, including songs from;

Phantom of the Opera. Jesus Christ Superstar – Andrew Lloyd Webber

Les Miserables. Miss Saigon – Claude Michel Schonberg, Alain Boulil.

The Rocky Horror Show (Composer Richard O’Brien was born in Cheltenham)

Songs For a New World – Jason Robert Brown
