Talk: The Decline of Eels – conservation through art
Gloucester
Dates: 28/08/2025 - 7:30pm
Venue: The Folk of Gloucester, 99-103 Westgate Street GL1 2PG
Julia Manning is a member of The Society of Wildlife Artists and of The Royal Society of Painter Printmakers. In partnership with the Somerset Wildlife Trust and international eel expert Andy Don, she has developed a stunning and emotive collection of prints based on life cycle of the European Eel and the threats they face at every stage of their global migration. Using field observations and the latest scientific information, she depicts the dramatic saga unfolding in our nearby streams and rivers.
Julia will take us through the stories behind her artworks, the fascinating research that informed them and the techniques she used to tell this epic tale through art.
The talk will be followed by a short Q&A session and the exhibition will be open to view in The Severn Room on the first floor of our historic building.
Tickets are £10 general admission or £5 for all concessions.
