REVIEW: The Magic of Motown at The Roses Theatre

Reviewers photos

The Magic of Motown arrived at The Roses Theatre, Tewkesbury Thursday Night and created a fantastic party atmosphere that transported us all back to an era of classics songs that can still entertain music lovers till this day.

The talented cast of singers backed by a great live band made sure that they brought plenty of soul, style and a lot of sequins to the stage.

We were treated to songs from all the great Motown legends including The Four Tops, Stevie Wonder, The Supremes and a medley of hits from The Jackson 5.

All the cast had a chance to shine and showcase their singing abilities during the duets and various group numbers. Belting out hit after hit wearing an array of dazzling dresses and colourful, snazzy suits.

Great vocal performances and slick choreographed dance routines helped to bring the stage alive with the memories of Motown. Members of the audience were up on their feet clapping, dancing and singing all night long to their favourite hits from Lionel Ritchie, The Temptations and Marvin Gaye. Diana Ross’s Chain Reaction was a great upbeat performance complete with stunning red gown and feather boa.

A fun night out for Motown music fans who made sure to never forget to blame it on the boogie!

The Magic of Motown is at The Roses Theatre till Friday 13th.

Joanne Robbins.
