Strictly star Ore Oduba to appear in Peter James' Picture You Dead - coming to Cheltenham this month

Strictly Come Dancing champion and TV favourite Ore Oduba is set to tread the boards in Cheltenham in just a few weeks as he joins the world premiere tour of Picture You Dead, the latest gripping stage adaptation from No.1 bestselling author Peter James.

Cheltenham audiences can catch this unmissable new thriller at the Everyman Theatre from 27th–31st May, as part of a major UK tour.

 

 

Oduba who is best known for standout stage roles in Pretty Woman, Rocky Horror Show and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, will star as Stuart Piper, a flamboyant millionaire art collector drawn into a deadly game of deception in the murky world of forged masterpieces. His debut in the play coincides with the latest series of the hit ITV drama Grace, based on the same Roy Grace novels.

Joining Ore in the cast is Fiona Wade, best known for her long-running role in Emmerdale and most recently seen in 2:22 A Ghost Story. She plays Freya Kipling, an innocent woman whose boot-sale art bargain becomes the centre of a chilling murder investigation.

 

Picture You Dead marks the seventh Peter James novel adapted for the stage by acclaimed writer Shaun McKenna, directed by Jonathan O’Boyle (whose previous hits include Wish You Were Dead).

Leading the cast is George Rainsford (Casualty, Call the Midwife), returning as the dogged DSI Roy Grace. West End star Jodie Steele (Heathers, Bonnie & Clyde, Wicked) also features as the razor-sharp villain Roberta Kilgore.

Other cast members include Gloucestershire-local Ben Cutler, Gemma Stroyan, Adam Morris, and Mark Oxtoby, with Peter Ash (Coronation Street) playing the enigmatic forger David Hegarty until 17 May.

Cheltenham theatregoers can expect twists, shocks and plenty of suspense in this brand-new mystery, inspired by a real-life encounter Peter James had with a former master art forger. Set in Brighton, the plot sees Roy Grace pulled into a cold case that spirals into a dangerous game of greed, revenge and murder, all sparked by the discovery of a possible lost masterpiece at a humble car boot sale.
