A Gloucestershire housebuilder has raised funds on the fairway and pitched in to raise more than £11,000 for a local charity.
Barratt Bristol, currently building at two developments across Gloucestershire, hosted a charity golf day at The Bristol Golf Club in support of their charity of the year, Children's Hospice South West, a local charity dedicated to enhancing the lives of children and young people living with life-limiting conditions.
Founded in 1991, Children’s Hospice South West provides hospice care for babies, children and young people in the region living with life-limiting conditions, in addition to wider support for their families.
The charity provides tranquil settings with quiet reflective spaces, sensory gardens and specialist play equipment, with the aim of supporting families in their care for up to 10 years.
On the charity golf day, over 100 employees, subcontractors and suppliers from Barratt Bristol teed off and showcased their skills in an 18-hole competition, raising a staggering £11,630, which was match funded by The Barratt Redrow Foundation, bringing the total to £23,260.
Amanda Gallagher, Corporate Partnerships Fundraiser at Children’s Hospice South West, said: “We are delighted to have been chosen as charity of the year for Barratt Homes and supported through the recent golf day. We are looking forward to a great partnership over the coming year, getting to know the team and sharing more about Children’s Hospice South West and how we support children and families across the South West.”
The Golf Fundraiser is one of several initiatives supported by the Barratt Redrow Foundation, which focuses on creating lasting social value through volunteering,
partnerships and grassroots support across the UK. Since its launch in 2021, the foundation has donated more than £20 million to more than 1,700 local and national charities.
Mark Dee, Commercial Director for Barratt Bristol, said: “Supporting local charities is a key part of what we do at Barratt Bristol, and we’re incredibly proud to have raised such a fantastic amount for Children’s Hospice South West through our annual golf day.
“It was brilliant to see so many of our employees, subcontractors and suppliers come together in support of such an important cause. The generosity and enthusiasm shown on the day was outstanding, and thanks to the match funding from The Barratt Redrow Foundation, the total raised will make an even greater difference to the children, young people and families supported by the charity.
“We’d like to thank everyone who took part, donated or helped organise the event. We look forward to continuing our partnership with Children’s Hospice South West and supporting the incredible work they do across the region.”
