Moreton Show's Home & Garden Section is open to all

Moreton Show is proud to announce the continued success and expansion of its Home & Garden section, a perennial favourite since the show's inception.

As the event has evolved over the years, the Home & Garden section has flourished, now boasting nearly 150 distinct classes, including over 25 catered specifically to children and young adults.

From painting and making, to baking and vegetable growing, the Children's competitions in the Home & Garden section promise a delightful summer pastime for the younger generation.

Embracing an ethos of inclusivity, Moreton Show actively encourages participation from all ages, with a special focus on promoting opportunities for children. Keeping the cost of exhibiting as accessible as possible, the entry fee for each class is 50p.

NEW ADDITION: YOUNG ADULT CLASSES

In an exciting development, Moreton Show is thrilled to announce the introduction of Young Adult classes for individuals aged 16 to 21. The Home & Garden Committee envisions these classes as a bridge between the Children's and Adult categories, offering a diverse range of competitions to cater to varying interests. This addition expands the possibilities for young participants.

Esther Watts, the Home & Garden Secretary, shared her enthusiasm for the upcoming event: ‘The Home & Garden Section is one of my favourite parts of the show. The marquee is always a hive of activity on Show Day and I think everyone should take the opportunity to pop in there and have a look at all the fantastic exhibits. The Children’s classes are a great way to keep the kids busy on a rainy day, and I hope the new Young Adult classes will prove successful. I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank all our sponsors of the Home & Garden section, it is a vast part of the show and would not be possible without your support.’

The Adult classes are neatly divided into four categories: Homecrafts, Handicrafts, Vegetables and Flowers. Enthusiastic green-thumbed participants from all corners of the Cotswolds are encouraged to engage in friendly competition to claim the coveted trophy for their exceptional pair of parsnips or the perfect set of six plums.

In the flowers section, expect a captivating exhibition featuring Chrysanthemums, Dahlias and Roses, along with the intriguing Floral Display contest where participants are challenged to craft unique arrangements atop cake stands. For those with a flair for creativity, the Handicraft classes offer the perfect platform, while the Homecrafts section welcomes baking and crafting enthusiasts, showcasing their skills in cake-making, jam and fortified wine production.
