Colourful costumes and music fill Stroud care home in carnival extravaganza

Residents at a care home in Stroud put on their dancing feet for a special celebration.

The team at Care UK’s Scarlet House, on Westward Road in Ebley, organised its very own version of Notting Hill Carnival, welcoming the local community to get involved in a fancy-dress parade and dance along to a DJ set.

Guests also enjoyed a traditional barbecue prepared by the home’s head chef.

Resident, Jan Cadman, said: “We had a wonderful day, dancing and enjoying the delicious food made by our chef. If you can’t have fun at our age, when can you? It was fun, fun, fun!”

Suzanne Tullet, General Manager at Scarlet House, said: “Our Notting Hill Carnival-inspired event was a great success and we loved hosting our very own street party.

“It was wonderful to celebrate the culture of the Caribbean and see everyone enjoying food and entertainment inspired by the world-famous carnival. Here at Scarlet House, we love to organise exciting activities to encourage residents to be active, and, of course, dancing is great exercise as well as being great fun.

“I’d like to say a big thank you to the team, who worked tirelessly to organise the celebration. It was a fantastic day for all involved.”
