Gloucestershire community invited to join Sue Ryder for a magical walk under the stars as Starlight
Cheltenham
Ashley Manor Preparatory School
Saturday 17 October 2026.
People from across Gloucestershire can now sign up for this year’s Sue Ryder Starlight Hike Cheltenham for an uplifting evening of remembrance, raising vital funds so more people can access the expert end-of-life care and support they deserve.
Sue Ryder Starlight Hike Cheltenham, kindly sponsored by Allstone Speedy Skips and Monster Mix, returns to Ashley Manor Preparatory School on the evening of Saturday 17 October 2026. Friends and families are invited to walk a 10km route, setting off from the school, making every step count in memory of someone special.
The event kicks off from 6pm, when walkers can enjoy refreshments, soak up live music from talented local choirs and take part in an energising Zumba warm-up before setting off at 8pm. Often dressed in brightly coloured outfits, glitter and glow sticks, participants will then follow a route around the spa town before passing through the tranquil grounds of Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice.
At the hospice, which will be softly lit with festoon lights, walkers will be invited to pause and place a star in memory of someone special to them.
Alysia Cameron-Price, Regional Fundraising Team Manager for Sue Ryder, said: “Whether you have a personal connection to Sue Ryder or simply want to support a cause that matters to you and your community, this is your moment to make a difference. You’ll be part of a warm, joyful atmosphere filled with stories, reflection, laughter and the chance to feel part of something bigger.”
“Last year, Sue Ryder provided more than 655,000 hours of expert care including from Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice thanks to the support of people signing up to events like Starlight Hike. Every moment made a difference. By taking part and raising sponsorship, you’ll help ensure even more people receive the expert care and grief support they need because no one should face death or grief alone.”
Rowan Elliott, at Allstone Speedy Skips and Monster Mix, said: “Having attended Starlight Hike in 2025 I was fortunate to see the incredible joy and positivity from all involved in supporting a charity doing fantastic work in the community. Allstone is proud to be part of this event, continuing our partnership with Sue Ryder and their ongoing work. I’d encourage everyone to support the Starlight Hike – come along, sample the atmosphere, meet great people and raise funds for a truly worthy cause.”
Participants are encouraged to raise a suggested sponsorship of £100 or more per adult. Standard tickets start from £20 per adult, which includes a t-shirt and special medal as you cross the finish line. Teams of five or more can get 20% off their registration fee with the code TEAM20.
Sign up before 31 July to enjoy an early bird discount of 20% off your entry fee at sueryder.org/StarlightCheltenham or contact the fundraising team by emailing at Leckhampton.events@sueryder.org or calling 01242 246270.
If you can’t join us on the hike but still want to be part of this incredible event, we are also looking for volunteers to support the event. Contact us to find out more.
