Lith Printing Workshop

University of Gloucestershire, Cheltenham

Dates: 26/03/2022

Venue: Hardwick Campus, University of Gloucestershire

During this practical full-day workshop you will learn basic Lith printing using a variety of papers, vintage and new, to explore the potential of this amazing printing process which gives a completely different look to standard B&W darkroom prints.

Lith development is a fairly modern alternative photographic process, discovered in the 1970s. Known as an infectious development, Lith is a creative printing process where results can be very unpredictable and vary between gritty graphic charcoal like images to soft, painterly ones. Although the process uses a negative, due to the nature of the development no two images are the same, therefore each print is totally unique.

To join this workshop, some basic knowledge of how to make a B&W enlargement is required. Participants are required to bring their own B&W film negatives to print (any format).

Course tutor and Fine Art Photographer, Lisa Lavery has over 10 years’ experience teaching traditional and historical photography practices to students across various levels including Secondary Education, Further Education, Undergraduate and Postgraduate degrees. Her specialist expertise is focused on process and understanding of techniques in analogue and alternative photography disciplines.

Cost: £150

Format: 1 day course

Available date: Saturday 26th March 2022, 10:00 – 16:00
