Join Ben for an inspiring and informative poetry workshop in which you are encouraged to run with the festival theme and go wild with your writing!

Ben Ray is a versatile and consummate poet, performer and mentor. He is equally at home performing at sold-out venues as in giving talks and workshops. Ben recently presented an academic paper on poetry and climate change at the World Youth Forum: Rights to Dialogue in Italy.

An accomplished young poet, Ben comes from the Welsh borders with a fresh and original poetic voice full of wit, twists, surprises, echoes and challenges (Alan Rusbridger, former editor of The Guardian). His first collection After the Poet, the Bar (Indigo Dreams) won the Geoffrey Stevens Memorial Prize. His second collection is What I heard on the Last Cassette Player in the World (Indigo Dreams) and his third, The Kindness of the Eel will be published by The Poetry Business in 2020.

 

Perform Your Poems with Verve - A Performance Skills workshop with Carol Robson

Hilarious, heartfelt  Jordan Delise Fleming). At Perform Your Poems with Verve, Carol will work with you to develop your on-stage presence and the presentation of your poems. Suitable for writers of all levels of experience. And why not come and perform your poems after the workshop at Carol’s reading in the evening?

Rowan will encourage participants to write material that doesnt ignore people and will share tips and skills on how to find topics that strike a chord with others, while still staying true to who you are.

 

Graham Burchill and Rosie Jackson workshop: Beyond the Frame

Describe but imagine beyond the frame  is the second of Martyn Crucefixs 14 Ways to Write an Ekphrastic Poem. It is for special consideration in this workshop led by two poets who have spent years considering the art and lives of artists Stanley Spencer and his wife Hilda Carline. Here they will expose rich potential for harvesting the imagination, introduce new angles and approaches for writing poems triggered by art, and explore what may be implied - but not obviously revealed - in and beyond the edges of an image.

 

A Wildcard workshop with John Hegley

Join the Fabulously funny (Time Out) John Hegley in a creative workshop in which you will craft wild cards with a difference! Work with John to write verses to greet nurses or poems to praise your pals, and accompany your wild writings with illuminating illustrations and delightful drawings!
