In the last of the summer one-off art lectures, “RENOIR; Paris, Painting and Perception” explores the life and work of Pierre-Auguste Renoir who, with fellow artist Claude Monet, was at the centre of the ground-breaking Impressionist Movement. Perceiving the swirl of Parisian nightclubs and the beauty of the French landscape in a new artistic light, Renoir used radical new techniques of intense colour and bravura brushstrokes to capture the essence of what he saw. Revel in Renoir’s 19th century world and be enthused and informed (!) in advance of the major exhibition at the National Gallery London in October, in collaboration with Musee d’Orsay Paris and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston “Renoir & Love” the first major exhibition in the UK of the artist's work for 20 years, bringing together over 40 paintings from collections around the world..
