Local Organisation Launches National Accreditation Programme to Strengthen Cyber Security Capability
Cheltenham
The UK’s trusted authority on cyber security competence, The Cyber Scheme, based in Eagle Tower in Cheltenham, has launched a new Accredited Company Programme to validate the credibility of organisations delivering cyber security services.
Designed to professionalise and strengthen capability across the industry, the programme will officially launch at CYBERUK on 21 to 23 April in Glasgow.
Open to organisations of all sizes, accredited companies will be recognised for investing in verified skills, continuous professional development, and delivering high standards of service. Crucially, they will gain access to procurement frameworks that mandate a Professionalised Cyber Workforce.
“Our accreditation programme is built on the principle that trustworthy services come from proven professional competence”, said Zeshan Sattar, Director at The Cyber Scheme. “The programme assures a company’s services by confirming its workforce capability aligns with the UK Cyber Security Council’s Chartered Cyber Security Professional standards.
“Professionalisation also doesn’t stop with individuals. Skills, standards and continuous development must be embedded within the organisations delivering these services.”
The Cyber Scheme has a long track record of connecting industry, government and academia to build a robust cyber workforce. As the largest Licensed Body for the UK Cyber Security Council, it assesses and recommends individuals for professional titles from Associate to Chartered level across multiple specialisms, accounting for over half of all registered professionals.
Companies accredited through the programme will benefit from increased visibility in regulated frameworks, the opportunity to help shape professional benchmarks, access to domestic and international opportunities, and stronger routes to attract, retain and develop professionally registered talent through supplementary training.
Organisations will also be listed on The Cyber Scheme’s forthcoming Accredited Company Register which recognises members for their key disciplines such as security testing, operational technology (OT), incident response, secure operations, cyber security management, and governance and risk.
Sattar continues: “Our Accredited Company Programme isn’t just another badge, it’s a strategic advantage which builds trust and confidence to raise the bar and strengthen resilience across the sector, together.”
Jordan Glover, Director at JAG Secure penetration testing consultancy added: "The Cyber Scheme's Accredited Company Programme is something our industry has genuinely needed. It shifts responsibility beyond the individual, tying a company's credibility directly to the verified competence of the people working within.
“What’s great is the specialism-based recognition; companies are accredited for what they actually deliver, whether that's security testing, incident response, or governance and risk management, rather than a blanket stamp of approval which for a specialist firm like ours, this distinction matters. This is a commitment to quality, transparency and the long term professionalisation of cyber security."
Paul Toye, Managing Director, Cyber Guarded added: “The programme fills a critical gap by linking professional competence with organisational credibility, giving UK businesses confidence that the advice and services they receive come from trusted, independently verified professionals operating within their recognised specialisms.”
The Cyber Scheme UK is holding a webinar on its new Accredited Company Programme in May, to learn more or sign-up email accreditation@thecyberscheme.org. Those organisations signing up to the Accredited Company Programme at CYBERUK will also receive a plaque and certificate, as well as a place on the Accredited Organisation Register.
