Local Supermarket Wins Prestigious National Retail Award

Warner’s Supermarket, based in Upton-upon-Severn, has been crowned Independent Retailer of the Year at the prestigious Retail Industry Awards 2026, recognising its outstanding commitment to customers, community engagement, and innovation within the grocery sector.

The award was presented during a ceremony held at the Hilton London Bankside on Tuesday 22 September, hosted by comedian Mark Watson. The awards honoured the businesses, teams and individuals who continue to raise standards and drive innovation throughout the retail industry.

Warner’s Supermarket impressed judges with its strong value proposition, creative marketing initiatives, enhanced customer loyalty programme, unwavering commitment to supporting the local community, and its dedication to championing local suppliers and producers. The award was collected by Jack Cross, Store Manager, Becky Willis, Marketing Manager and Molly Apps, Assistant Store Manager.

Since opening its doors in 2022, Warner’s Supermarket has become much more than a place to shop. At the heart of the Upton upon Severn community, the store has built a reputation for bringing people together through a range of initiatives that support local residents, businesses and organisations.

These include its popular Food Truck Fridays, which provide a platform for local street food vendors to showcase their offerings, and the highly successful Community Savings Scheme, which has raised more than £75,000 for local charities, schools, sports clubs and community groups.

As an independently owned supermarket, Warner’s is also passionate about supporting local suppliers and producers. The store stocks a wide range of food and drink sourced from across the region, giving customers access to high-quality local products while helping small businesses and producers thrive.
