Kids go Free on the Daffodil Line this August - as usual

While a new national scheme means children across England will travel free on buses this August, for passengers on the 232 Daffodil Line, it's nothing new. Kids have always travelled affordably on the community-run route - and this August, they travel free, just as they always have during the school holidays.
 
The offer runs for the full month of August for children up to the age of 16. Routes and timetables can be found at daffodilline.co.uk or via the Daffodil Line Facebook page, which also plays host to news about things to do and summer events running along the Daffodilshire line.
 
The government's "Kids Go Free" initiative, which runs from 1 to 31 August, forms part of the wider Great British Summer Savings scheme, backed by over £100 million in national funding to ease cost-of-living pressure on families. For the Daffodil Line, it simply confirms what the service has believed since it started: that getting children out and about shouldn't cost families a fortune.
And there’s certainly enough to fill the summer holidays in the towns and parishes the 232 serves - free child travel opens up day trips, visits to family, and access to local attractions without the worry of extra cost.
 
While children travel free, adult fares on the Daffodil Line remain at just £2 per journey - a price the service has held since it began, regardless of national fare caps rising and falling around it. This consistency isn't an accident. It's a fitting reminder of what the Daffodil Line represents: a service built by the community it serves, for the community it serves - proof that local people, pulling together, can succeed where others might not.
 
So this August, the message from the Daffodil Line is simple: get yourselves and the kids on board. It's free, it's easy, and it's exactly what the community-run bus was built for.
 

 
Notes to Editor:
The Daffodil Line (232) connects Ross-on-Wye, Newent, and Ledbury, serving nine communities including Kilcot, Gorsley, Kempley, Upton Bishop, Much Marcle, Dymock, and Castle Tump.
The service is operated by Buses4Us CIC, a community interest company set up in 2022 in response to the withdrawal of commercial bus services in the area.
Adult single fares on the Daffodil Line are £2, a price that has remained unchanged since the service launched.
