South Gloucestershire housebuilder supports local suicide prevention service

Gloucester

Venue: Ladden Garden Village

A housebuilder in Gloucestershire is supporting the vital work of a local suicide prevention service with a generous donation.
Barratt Bristol, which is currently building at Ladden Garden Village, off Leechpool Way in Yate, has donated £1,500 to Hope Against Suicide, a dedicated suicide prevention charity based in Bristol.
Established in 2023, Hope Against Suicide helps to bridge the gap between mental health decline and long-term support by offering early intervention before someone reaches crisis point. The charity serves the local community of Bristol, providing in-person support through their trained response team.
Through the donation, Barratt Bristol has supported the launch of the charity’s listening hubs, offering safe, non-judgemental spaces where individuals can speak openly to trained listeners. Starting with just one hub in central Bristol, Hope Against Suicide has since expanded their service with the launch of a second hub in Cabot Circus.
The donation is one of several initiatives supported by the Barratt Redrow Foundation, which focuses on creating lasting social value through volunteering, partnerships and grassroots support across the UK. Since its launch in 2021, the foundation has donated more than £20 million to more than 1,700 local and national charities.
Clare Kemp, Founding CEO at Hope Against Suicide (HAS) said: "We’re incredibly grateful to Barratt Bristol for this kind donation and for recognising the importance of accessible mental health support within our local community.
“The grant funding has helped us launch our listening hubs, helping us provide accessible and safe spaces for anyone struggling with their mental health. It is through donations like this that we can continue our work to ensure people have somewhere to turn when they need someone to listen.”
Andrew Spicer, Managing Director for Barratt Bristol, said: “We are delighted to offer this donation to support an important local charity like Hope Against Suicide and the vital work they do to provide accessible, compassionate support.
“Through the Barratt Redrow foundation, we’re proud to contribute to charities and projects that make a meaningful difference within the areas where we build. Supporting the wellbeing of our communities is incredibly important to us, and we’re proud to play a small part in helping the charity continue its important work.”
Ladden Garden Village is perfectly placed on the outskirts of Yate, with shops, restaurants and schools within easy reach. Nearby rail services take commuters to Bristol and Gloucester in half an hour, and the capital in an hour and a half. This development offers all the benefits of well-connected, suburban living and has much to offer families and first-time buyers.
