‘A happy family’ – Westbury-on-Trym care home centenarian reveals secret to long life

A resident at a Westbury-on-Trym care home toasted her 100th birthday and shared her sweet secret to a long and happy life.
Dorothy Cutts, a resident at Care UK’s Trymview Hall, on Southmead Road, marked her newfound centenarian status with a special celebration organised by the team, complete with a delicious birthday cake specially made by the home’s talented Head Chef.
She was joined by her close family and friends, as well as fellow residents as she shared her secret to living a long life: “a happy family.”
Dorothy said: “I loved seeing all of my family together and celebrating with everyone at the party. It was such a fun day!”
Dorothy was born in Bradford on 26th April 1926 and spent her younger years working as an English teacher at a local sixth form. She met her husband Alan in Farnborough and went on to have eight children, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A lover of the outdoors, Dorothy also used to enjoy hikes with her family in her spare time. Though she doesn’t go for as many walks anymore, she still loves spending quality time with her husband at the home.

Trymview Hall is a state-of-the-art care home which provides full-time residential, dementia and short-term respite care. The care home incorporates space for hobby and leisure activities and includes its own cinema, hair salon and café.
