‘Having a ball’ – community comes together for glittering Winter fundraiser
An ‘un-ball-ievable’ £33,500 has been raised at the annual Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice Winter Ball, as the Gloucestershire community joined together in a dazzling evening of celebration and support for the palliative care and bereavement support charity.
Held at the prestigious Manor by the Lake in Cheltenham, the black-tie event was generously sponsored by Home & Botanic, Cheltenham’s elite late-night venue. Guests enjoyed a delicious three-course meal, live entertainment from the EveryVoice Choir and Tommy and the Fuse, and a fabulous atmosphere of fundraising and festive cheer.
The evening featured an exclusive charity auction hosted by Philip Allwood – star of Bargain Hunt, Flog It, and Dickinson’s Real Deal – with magnificent prizes going under the hammer. Among them was Manchester Derby Day hospitality at Old Trafford in the Director’s Lounge, and some exclusively commissioned artwork.
Adding even more sparkle to the night was a diamond champagne raffle in partnership with Martin & Co, and sponsored by Ontic, where one lucky guest won a natural diamond worth £1,000.
Matt Reay, Community Fundraising Manager at Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice, said: “We are absolutely delighted by the incredible support shown at this year’s Winter Ball. It was a brilliant evening enjoyed by everyone who attended. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who made the event possible – from our volunteers to all the local businesses and individuals who so generously donated to the auction and raffle.
“A particular thank you also goes to our headline sponsors, Home & Botanic, for their continued support. The funds raised – an amazing £33,500 – will help us to continue being there for families when it matters most.”
Mark and Jane Shorting of Home & Botanic added: “We were so proud to sponsor this year’s Winter Ball. It was good to come together with so many generous supporters, sharing in the festivities and knowing that, together, we are contributing to the important work that Sue Ryder does.”
