Team Sue Ryder helps raise thousands of pounds at this year's Run Cheltenham

More than 150 runners took the streets of Cheltenham last weekend (20 September) helping to raise more than £125,000 so far to support the palliative, end-of-life care and grief support charity, Sue Ryder.

Donning their Sue Ryder vests, the team pounded the town's pavements taking on ether the 10k or half marathon at the annual event. They were cheered on by a sea of supporters, including volunteers from the charity who manned water stations and handed out sweets to give runners a boost.

Sue Ryder, which provides palliative and end-of-life care for people living with a terminal illness, as well as bereavement support, is Run Cheltenham's official charity partner.

82-year-old, Dave Cant, a long-standing volunteer at Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice, took on the 10k alongside his two daughters, son-in-law and grandchildren. He has raised over £10,000 for the charity.

Dave said: "As a three-generation family team, we absolutely loved taking part in the Run Cheltenham 10K in support of Sue Ryder. We created memories that we will treasure for years to come, while raising money for a charity close to my heart.

"Running through the streets of Cheltenham together was a truly magical experience, made even more special by the wonderful atmosphere and support from everyone involved. At 82, I was incredibly proud to cross that finish line with my family beside me."

Alysia Cameron-Price, Regional Fundraising Team Manager at Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice, said: “The runners, the supporters, volunteers and everyone working behind the scenes have once again helped to make Run Cheltenham 2026 an unforgettable event. We can't thank everyone enough for all their support, and we're delighted to announce that Team Sue Ryder has helped us to raise an incredible £125,000 so far, with funds still coming in."

"The money raised is vital to helping us to continue to provide our expert and compassionate palliative and end of life care, as well as grief support services, ensuring that no one has to face death or grief alone.

"Thank you once again to everyone who took part, donated or cheered on our runners."
