REVIEW: Cafe Review Rainbowls Cafe

Cheltenham

The wonderfully named Rainbowls Cafe on Hewlett Road in Cheltenham is coming up for its one-month anniversary, so it was high time we took a visit to see what the newest addition to Cheltenham’s foodie scene has to offer.

Rainbowls is an independent, health-conscious eatery with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. They focus on nutritious Acai bowls, delicious smoothies and healthy bakes, along with great quality coffee. They truly believe that health is wealth and are excited to share their products with Cheltenham.

It’s been a bit of a dreary week weather-wise, but my 8-year-old companion and I were lucky to see a little bit of sunshine between rain clouds as we arrived at Rainbowls this morning. The space at 64 Hewlett Road has seen many a business over the years, from fireplaces to beauticians, and though Rainbowls has only been there for a month, the welcoming cafe feels like it’s been a part of the community in the area for a long time.

The large glass windows that cover most of the exterior of the building allow the interior of the cafe to become drenched in natural daylight, this creates a warm and welcoming feeling immediately upon entering.

The decor is clean, cosy and environmentally friendly! I was informed by owner Jessica, that every item of furniture had been recycled, upcycled and put to good use. My companion chose a cushioned window seat and chunky wooden tabletop, one of the favourite seats in the house, perfect for soaking in the sun and watching the world go by.

Since the Acai bowls are the speciality, we went with the staff favourite ‘Beautiful Berry’, a delicious bowl of Acai berries, raspberries, strawberries, blueberries, bananas, blackberries, coconut milk, honey, granola, coconut shavings, chia seeds, cacao nibs, passionfruit, blue spirulina and coconut yoghurt puree. My mini reviewer ordered the Berry go-round smoothie, strawberry, blackberry, raspberry, apple juice and chia seeds.

This was my first ever Acai bowl and i wasn’t sure what to expect, but the bowl was absolutely stunning. Visually gorgeous, fresh fruit and beautiful colours. This was a generous portion and upon digging in the first thing i noticed was that everything tasted so fresh. A beautiful smooth texture mixed with the crunch of the granola made this the perfect breakfast dish.

The Berry go-round smoothie was one of the tastiest we have tried. Again, the effect of the fresh ingredients was obvious, it was truly delicious and a large serving.

Although we chose berry-based items, the menu looks delicious and has offerings for different palettes, I’m keen to try the Totally Tropical bowl and the coconut smoothie!
If fruit isn’t your thing, there is delicious coffee and healthy bakes on offer too, something for everyone.

There’s nothing else quite like this in Cheltenham, delicious healthy food in a relaxed atmosphere. The staff were so genuine and friendly that we truly felt comfortable and it was clear that other customers felt the same, with tables full of happy smoothie slurpers!

My 8-year-old mini reviewer gave Rainbowls a huge 11/10 and I feel the same. Please pop in and give it a try, you won’t be disappointed!

Rainbowls is located at 64 Hewlett Road Cheltenham and is open 7 days a week.
