Experimental Photography Short Course

University of Gloucestershire. Cheltenham

Available dates: 20th January – 24th February 2022

Venue: Centre for Art and Photography, Hardwick Campus, University of Gloucestershire.

This creative short course offers the opportunity to explore a range of alternative and digital experimental image making processes. This practical hands-on course explores camera-less photography, the Cyanotype process, Darkroom & Large format photography.

(A basic understanding of photography is required).

Participants will be introduced to a range of image making approaches through traditional, digital, and analogue techniques. We will look at number of significant artists and photographers, both historical and contemporary, who explore creative experimentation within their work.

Over the six-week period, through practical workshops, presentations, and discussion we will explore the following elements that play a part in image manipulation techniques: Camera – Light – Time – Chemical Process.

Course tutor and Fine Art Photographer, Lisa Lavery has over 10 years’ experience teaching traditional and historical photography practices to students across various levels including Secondary Education, Further Education, Undergraduate and Postgraduate degrees. Her specialist expertise is focused on process and understanding of techniques in analogue and alternative photography disciplines.

Cost: £120

Format: 6 weeks part time, Thursdays 18:30-20:30
