Daredevils challenged to go to great heights to raise money for Sue Ryder

Cheltenham

Sue Ryder is calling on local daredevils to sign up for a High Ropes Challenge Fun Day on Saturday 8 June to help raise vital funds. Promising excitement for the whole family, this charity fun day will take place between 9.30am and 6pm at 270 Climbing Park on Bentham Lane, between Cheltenham and Gloucester. Funds raised from the event will support the national palliative care and bereavement charity, which runs Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice.

Participants can book for a one-hour Low Ropes or two-hour High Ropes session or choose to leap off the Tower on the Freefall or Leap of Faith jumps. The one-hour Low Rope session is £12.50 and is best suited for children 5-8 years of age, while the two-hour High Rope session is £25 and is for older children and adults. The Tower Jumps (Freefall or Leap of Faith) are £10 if pre-booked, or £20 on the day as a donation to Sue Ryder.

As part of the day, 50% of all rope course session tickets and 100% of all tower jumps will be donated to Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice. Housing the only palliative care inpatient unit in Gloucestershire, the hospice gives expert and compassionate care to people when they need it the most.

In addition to the aerial adventures on offer, there will also be an assortment of stalls and stands for participants and spectators to enjoy around the park, including a pizza van, cake stall, doughnut and sweet stand and face painting.

Mark Chamberlain, Activities Chief Operating Officer at 270 Climbing Park, said:

“We are excited to be partnering up with Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice on this our first High Ropes Fun Day. It will be great to see people conquer their fears and take the step off the tower on our freefall decent, raising some much-needed funds on the way.”

Matt Reay, Community Fundraising Manager at Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice, said:

“We’re delighted to be holding this fantastic charity fun day at the 270 Climbing Park and hope many families, groups of friends and colleagues can join us for an adrenaline fuelled day on the ropes. By taking on an epic aerial adventure for Sue Ryder, you’ll be helping us be there when it matters for the people of Gloucestershire.”
