Following the inevitable missed year of 2020, the Friendliest Cycling Event in the West is back for 2021. Cotswold Cogfest returns on Sunday 27 June with fantastic routes, the same friendly and welcoming atmosphere and the thing that we’ve become rightly proud of - the awesome, enviable, free, home-made cakes to fuel up with at our feed station.

Cogfest is just a little bit different to all the other multitude of cycling events that invite you to ‘beast yourself’ or ‘climb Everest in a day’ or any number of painful sensations. We love seeing the fast groups come and deal out the miles, but Cogfest is also very welcoming to anyone that can ride a bike. Cogfest is all about encouraging everyone to come and have a go at cycling. Our goal is to get more people riding more bikes, more often. We even have a ‘Couch to Cogfest’ plan on our website and on Facebook, aimed at helping people come and ride with us.

Cogfest offers three routes for riders to choose from:

First is the family ride, suitable for everyone, across and around the stunning Minchinhampton Common, about 6miles/10km.
Second is the 30 mile/50km route. Rolling countryside, no big hills, out to the Cotswold Water park on quiet lanes, with lovely views and the cake-tastic feed station at the halfway point.
Third is the 60 mile/100km route. For those who want a fast ride out this is the one. Or for those who want a more leisurely ride and a decent day in the countryside. The route follows the 30 miler to the feed station, where you can refuel, before setting out on a further 30 mile loop, and returning to the feed station for another refuel, and then the journey home.

Once riders get back to base there will be tea, coffee, more cake, and fantastic bacon rolls, with veggie/vegan options. Reward yourself with a treat and a pat on the back for a good day in the saddle.

One rider posted this after 2019 ride: “Congratulations to everyone involved in organising this event. Great route, great refreshments and excellent signage. Thanks for a great day”.
