Cheltenham Poetry Festival in-person festival runs from 20 - 29 April at venues which include The Cheltenham Playhouse.

 

 

Highlights of the 13th Festival include: Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature and Zoological Society of London poet Ruth Padel shares the stage with ‘veteran campaigner’ broadcaster and commentator Jonathon Porritt, for a reading and discussion on the power of poetry to raise awareness of climate issues with BBC Radio Gloucestershire’s Jo Durrant, Roy McFarlane reads poetry inspired by racial issues within the UK and the rich artistic legacy of multi- culturalism, slam champ Chloe Jacquet performs, there are readings by Alicia Stubbersfield, Robin Gilbert, Dave Ashbee, Bert Molsom, Ann Drysdale, the reveal of our newly appointed Cheltenham based Poet in Residence Angela France, Carcanet poet Rory Waterman talks about National Treasure Wendy Cope, we offer a tribute to the UA Fanthorpe, and a brand-new Keats- inspired show by the irrepressible John Hegley.

We also offer The Real Slam Shady! The Cheltenham Poetry Festival Slam, and a showcase of smoking-hot spoken word from the winners of the 2022 Slam.
