New Food Hub Francs to Bring Local Food Providers to Cheltenham Campus

A new food and drink hub is launching at the University of Gloucestershire’s Francis Close Hall campus this September, bringing a rotating line-up of local food providers to Cheltenham.

The University of Gloucestershire Students’ Union is transforming the existing cafeteria at Francis Close Hall into Francs, a new food and drink destination designed to bring greater variety to campus while creating a space that can also be enjoyed by the wider Cheltenham community.

Rather than having a single permanent food outlet, Francs will welcome different local food providers for regular pop-up events throughout the year. Students, staff and members of the public will be able to discover something different each time they visit, from independent food businesses to established local providers.

 

 

The initiative aims to create a more vibrant food offering for students while strengthening connections between the university, local businesses, and the wider Cheltenham community.

The new space will officially launch with a food festival on Tuesday 22 September, from 11am until 3pm.

The launch event will bring together the food providers who will be appearing at Francs throughout the year, giving visitors the opportunity to sample and purchase a variety of food and meet the businesses behind the new pop-up programme.

The event is open to students, staff and members of the public.

The Students’ Union hopes Francs will become a new community hub within the Francis Close Hall campus, creating opportunities for local food businesses while giving the university community and local residents a constantly changing selection of food and drink to enjoy.
