This summer, experience the Stone Age in our prehistoric landscape.

Walk in the footsteps of your ancestors and discover where Cheddar Man,Britain’s oldest, most complete skeleton was discovered in Gough’s Cave.

Really get into the cave man spirit; digging through sand trays to discover ancient artefacts, making your very own clay thumb pots and trying your hand at brass rubbing - creating etchings of extinct creatures such as the wondrous woolly mammoth. And that's not all!

Grab a prehistoric costume, and get ready to meet a real life hunter-gather at the Museum of Prehistory. They'll be on hand in the Museum's Garden to tell you all about how early man lived over 40,000 years ago and demonstrating some essential Stone Age survival skills.

Afterwards, explore the Museum, where you'll discover lots of amazing artefacts unearthed in the Cheddar area, that help tell the story of how people lived tens of thousands of years ago.

What else rocks about this Stone Age Summer fun? It's all included with your Day Ticket so you can also watch the story of early man unfold in the multimedia experience: Dreamhunters at Cox’s Cave, and venture up the 274 steps of Jacob’s Ladder to enjoy the Cliff-top walk and take in stunning panoramic views of the Gorge and Mendip Hills. A landscape that has been millions of years in the making!
