Baking a cake should not take forever: explore with Giuseppe Dell'Anno, winner of The Great British Bake Off, these traditional Italian recipes to get your cakes ready for the oven in 20 minutes or less.

You will savour the delicious filling of Sicilian cannoli in a cake format with Cuor di Sicilia (ricotta sunken cake), then play with the summery combination of coconut and amarena cherries in torta cocco e amarene. You will bake the deceptively simple showstopper that is torta al mandarino (upside-down clementine cake), and finally indulge in one of the most iconic flavour combinations in Italian baking: tortine cioccolato e pere (chocolate and pear cupcakes). You will also be preparing some ingenious sauces to elevate your simple bakes to elegant, indulgent desserts.
