Are you concerned about climate change and want to do something about it?

Two local Parish Councils – Cam and Coaley – have declared a climate emergency, and Stroud District Council has committed to achieving carbon neutrality by 2030.

What else should we be doing in our local communities to respond to the climate emergency? A key step is to set up a local climate action group.

If you live in Cam, Coaley, Dursley, Stinchcombe or Uley and would like to help set up a climate action group in your community then this workshop is for you.

Local climate action groups encourage low carbon lifestyles and take community initiatives on energy, food and transport to reduce carbon emissions. Local groups will have a key role in helping communities achieve a carbon neutral district by 2030.

The workshop will:

• provide information about local experiences and good practice in setting up groups;

• enable discussion, sharing and learning about early steps; and

• build confidence in setting up a local group.

The first part of the workshop will hear short presentations on:

- the strategy for achieving carbon neutrality across Stroud District by 2030

- the experience of setting up a local climate action group in Nailsworth, and

- principles of good practice.

This will be followed by Q&A discussion with the panel

The second part of the workshop will provide opportunity for smaller group discussions on starting and developing groups, or reviewing initial project ideas. This will be followed by report backs and a discussion of next steps.

Registration is free, but we will ask for voluntary contributions of £3 to £10 on the door to help cover costs and build funds for assisting new groups.
