Your Summer Guide to Family-Friendly Outdoor Theatre!
The summer holidays are just around the corner, and we're delighted to welcome families back to the Tuckwell Theatre for another season of magical outdoor storytelling, unforgettable characters, and adventures under the open sky.
We have a variety of family shows from magical lands and globe-trotting adventures to mysterious investigations and extraordinary feline heroes, this summer's family programme offers something for every imagination.
So pack a picnic (or treat yourselves to one of our Tuckwell hampers!), bring your blankets and camping chairs, and settle in for a summer of laughter, imagination, and family memories.
This Season’s Line-up:
The Wonderful Wizard of Oz
Tuesday 18 August at 3pm
Step onto the Yellow Brick Road this summer with DOT Productions’ magical family theatre adventure, Frank L. Baum’s The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. Join Dorothy as she is swept into a dazzling world where nothing is quite as it seems and adventure waits around every corner. Along the way she encounters curious companions, peculiar places, and powerful forces that test courage, kindness, and belief. Bursting with fun, silliness, and lively songs, this fantastical retelling sparkles with imagination and theatrical magic. Created for families, this is a joyful celebration of wonder and friendship, that reminds us that there’s no place like home.
Kaspar: Prince of Cats

Based on the book by Michael Morpurgo, we invite you to join us and step into the heart of the Savoy Hotel with Kaspar: Prince of Cats, a magical family adventure brought to life through enchanting puppetry, original music and vivid storytelling.
Follow Johnny Trott, a young bell boy, and Lizziebeth, a spirited American girl, as they form an unlikely bond with the extraordinary cat Kaspar. Follow them on their journey which takes them across oceans, in a story of friendship, courage and survival.
Around the World in 80 Days

Pack your bags, fasten your seatbelts and hold onto your hats – the race is on!
Join a fearless troupe of actor musicians as they hurtle across continents in this riotously entertaining, globe-trotting show inspired by Jules Verne’s much-loved classic.
With the clock ticking, Phileas Fogg and his quick-thinking companions attempt the impossible: travelling around the world in just 80 days!
Expect dazzling live music, outrageous characters and inventive storytelling as London, Bombay and beyond burst into life. Featuring trains, boats and plenty of theatrical mayhem, the show is packed with fun, flair and surprise at every turn.
Sherlock Holmes - And the Mystery of the Governor's Nose

Everyone’s favourite detective duo are given the Jenny Wren treatment.
Holmes and Watson are called to investigate the disappearance of a legendary painting, The Governor’s Nose. But all is not as elementary as it seems. As mysterious forces and an assortment of shady characters work to undermine them, they need all the wit, guile, and deduction capabilities in their arsenal, along with the help of the steadfast Mrs Hudson and Detective “Always-One-Step-Behind” Lestrade.
The hour grows late. The paint has dried. The game is afoot.
