Do you write poetry or prose? Would you like to read your work at The Times and The Sunday Times Cheltenham Literature Festival in October? The 2024 Gloucestershire Writers’ Network Competition is now open for all writers of poetry and prose aged 16 and over, who live, work or study in Gloucestershire and South Gloucestershire.

There are two prizes of £200 for the best poem (up to 50 lines) and for the best piece of prose (up to 750 words) and six runner-up prizes. The winners and runners-up will be invited to read at the Gloucestershire Writers’ Network Prize Winners event at the festival this October. Their work will be published in our competition anthology including that of the Highly Commended.

This year’s theme is Weather which you can explore as widely as you like. The judges are David Ashbee for poetry and Michael Johnstone for prose.
It costs £3.50 for one entry, £5.00 for two and £8.00 for three. The closing date is 31 May 2024. For further information go to our website. www.gloswriters.org.uk
